Set in Southern California, in 1991, the series centers on Jack Dunlevy, an ex-military man and no-nonsense guy who becomes a full-time parent when his wife decides to go to law school. He takes an unorthodox approach to keeping his teenagers, Frankie and Rachel, in line.

Joan wife of the main character goes to law school to get an education. Now, the father is fully responsible for the children. For Jack it's time to learn all the joys of fatherhood and parenting do. As it turned out, to educate not so easy especially when teenage son starts to impersonate an adult. It is in these days it is much easier to control the offspring because almost everyone has a mobile phone. Jack has no choice but to be strict in relation to the children so they listened a little. Viewers may seem rather strange methods of education used by Jack. However, the series is still worth seeing.
