House of Bond
House of Bond is a dramatised account of the life of Alan Bond, from the 1960s to the 2000s. The outrageous rags-to-riches-to-rags tale of controversial business tycoon Alan Bond and how he fought his way from the back alleys of Fremantle to become the richest man in Australia and one of our greatest sporting heroes. Part One details Bond’s prominence as a property investor and entrepreneur finishing with his greatest triumph as head of the syndicate that won the 1983 America’s Cup. Part Two sees him expand on a global scale before his hubris saw his empire spectacularly falling down becoming embroiled in a number of WA Inc. scandals including the bailout of the Rothwells Bank and the stripping of Bell Resources.
House of Bond season 1 is a real story about an Australian businessman and sports tycoon Alan Bond. He is an odious and infamous figure at home. Fate gave him an amazing chance and lifted him to the top. But then he fell to the bottom, losing almost everything. He was the richest man in Australia, adored fame, women and money. He built his own empire, but when it collapsed, that buried not only his multi-billion dollar fortune, but also his reputation. His sailing team brought the Australians a long-awaited and only victory in the American Cup in 1983. It was his finest hour. However, the billionaire was declared bankrupt after ten years, accusing him in financial fraud. Many investors lost money because of him, for which he paid freedom, spending four years in prison. Trying to save some of his property, he tried to turn the scam with Claude Monet’s painting. But his plan was uncovered. Coming out of jail, he again began to do business and was able to get rich again. Alan died in 2015 at the age of 77 years. So, we learn about a man with an irrepressible appetite, prone to excess. The creators of the project will try to answer the question, to which there is no exact answer. Who was Alan Bond – a villain, a hero or just a rascal?
