After 250 years on ice, a prisoner returns to life in a new body with one chance to win his freedom: by solving a mind-bending murder.
The events of Altered Carbon series season 1 unfold in the 25th century of human history. People can live practically indefinitely, thanks to the technology of personality transfer along with memories (“cortical stack”) to new bodies (“sleeve”). However, it is available only to the richest and most famous representatives of mankind due to its high cost. Nevertheless, someone still decides to kill the richest inhabitant of the land Laurens Bancroft (James Purefoy), although this does not make much sense. After the “resurrection” Laurens hires former soldier Takeshi Kovacs (Joel Kinnaman) to sort out the situation and find his killer. Takeshi was sentenced to a prison term of 500 years. However, the prisoner have a real chance of a new life on Earth – provided that he will be able to unravel the mystery of the murder of one of the bodies of his rich client.
